Hello. I am glad you found your way to my website!
I have been an instructor of yoga for 10 years and have been practicing for 13. My background in many different styles of yoga as well as my continued passion for the outdoors influence me as a teacher. I understand what it is like to walk into a yoga class and feel intimidated, stiff, and unsure of what to do. I assure you....you are in the right place.
Yoga is for everyone. No matter what you have done up to this point, it will help you in the yoga room. Some people come with strength, some with flexibility, some with patience, and others with determination. All of these things, and many more, will allow you to be challenged, yet prepared to do your practice each day. Every day is different, you bring who you are at that moment on to the mat. There really is no wrong or right, just what is.
My goal as an instructor, whether in a class or working with someone privately, is to create a space for you to learn about your body and heal your body, mind, and spirit. I will work you through specific postures to help you gain what you may not have at the moment: strength, flexibility, balance. All of these qualities are needed, not only in the body, but the mind to help you keep doing the
things you love more safely and fully.
It is never too late to begin a yoga practice and there is no experience necessary. Each person at every stage of life can benefit from yoga. I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis almost 20 years ago. I was told I wouldn't be able to do the things I loved: including running, biking, dancing, and hiking. Through my own practice I am able to not only continue to do those things, but try new ones....skiing, rock climbing.... and do them with confidence. I believe anything is possible. I know that each person and each situation is different and requires patience, perseverance, and determination. I want to help you achieve those things.
I have experience with people of varied backgrounds, all ages, and many different physical abilities- from professional dancers in NYC and hardcore back country athletes in Crested Butte to individuals trying yoga for the first time-- and everything in between.
I can help you take the first step or your next step in your practice. I encourage you to challenge what you think you can do.....discover the limitlessness of what is possible.
Come take a class with me or work with me one-on-one. (see my schedule page)
I look forward to meeting you and helping you achieve your best in the yoga room and outside of the yoga room.
Namaste,
Laura
